This beautiful pillow from Dutch brand Schaapmaatje is filled with 100% pure Merino wool and wrapped in a soft, breathable cotton cover. Merino wool is one of nature’s most remarkable fibres. It regulates temperature and moisture, so the pillow stays cool and fresh on warm summer nights and cosy in winter. It’s also wonderfully breathable, which makes it a natural alternative to synthetic pillows filled with polyester or foam.

What sets this pillow apart is that you can adjust it. A zip in the inner cover lets you add or remove wool until you find exactly the height and feel you like, whether you sleep on your back, side or front. It’s suitable for both children and adults.

Why Merino Wool?

Merino wool has been prized for centuries for its softness and comfort. Its fine fibres can absorb moisture and release it again into the air, which helps keep your sleeping environment fresh and dry. Wool also contains natural lanolin, which helps it resist dirt and odours, so it stays fresh with simple airing. The result is a pillow that feels comfortable through the night, whatever the season.

Made to Fit You

The pillow is filled with small, soft wool balls that hold their shape and move with you. Simply open the zip on the inner cover to remove some wool for a flatter pillow, or add more for extra height and support. Refill wool is also available.

Which Size Should I Choose?

50 × 70cm – Our recommended size for Ireland and the UK. It fits standard pillowcases (50 × 75cm).
60 × 70cm – A wider, continental-style pillow. Please note it needs a 60 × 70cm pillowcase, as it won’t fit standard Irish or UK pillowcases.

Care Instructions

• Air the pillow regularly by a window or outdoors in fresh air. Merino wool is naturally self-freshening, so this is usually all it needs.
• Plump and reshape the pillow by hand to keep the filling evenly spread
• The cotton cover is removable and washable
• When needed, the pillow can be machine washed on a wool cycle at 30°C, with a spin of no more than 400rpm
• Use a gentle, specialist wool wash
• Do not tumble dry. Dry flat or reshape and air dry thoroughly.

Wool is a natural material, so each pillow may vary slightly in feel. A faint natural wool scent is normal when the pillow is new and fades with airing.
